Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Big Sur, California

This park is one of our favorites! The drive to the campground can be a bit of a white-knuckler along Highway 1, but it is well worth it! Camp is set along a creek, with creekside sites featuring more of an oak tree setting, while those sites set off the creek are among the coastal redwoods. Many sites are spacious, offering privacy and peace. There is an abundance of poison oak, so caution should be exercised while exploring. A junior ranger program in the summer is fun for the kids, as is the ice cream shop just a quick bike ride or walk to the front of the park. There are many hiking trails to
waterfalls and vistas that begin in the campground. Laundry facilities and a small market with basic necessities is available near the rear of the park.

We camped at this lovely park in February when no one was there and it was fantastic but a bit cool. Spots along the creek are incredible and very private. Definitely a place to visit. Make sure to take the walk to the falls.
