Portal RV Resort, Moab, Utah

This new RV resort is situated on the nothern end of Moab, just 2 miles from the entrance to Arches National Park.  This park is unique with two sections: North Section and the South Section.  The two areas have different amenities and restrictions. The South Section is exclusively for Class As and 5th wheels, ten years or newer and offers more amenities and nicely landscaped sites with large and level concrete pads. The North section is for all other tents and RVs and offers gravel pads. Both sections offer spectacular views of what makes the Moab/Arches/Canyonlands area beautiful: spectacular red sandstone walls. The area backs up to a preservation area and is quiet and off of the
main road. The North and South sections have picnic tables, laundry, restrooms, 20/30/50 amp hookups, grocery/RV supply/souvenir store, wi-fi, cookware washroom and a lighted pavilion. The South section has additional amenities exclusive to south side tenants: pool and spa, exclusive showers, dog run and 200 amp spots. Landscaping here is definitely more manicured with koi ponds and well thought out shrubbery and trees. Sites in the South section are also available for purchase, some of which have already been purchased and have casitas built on them. The showers and restrooms on this side are immaculate and tastefully decorated. Restrictions and regulations here are many, however that is much of the appeal as it keeps the environment and atmosphere upscale.  Friendly breeds of dogs are welcome. In future visits to Portal RV Resort, I hope to see a laundry facility on the south side and an expanded grocery. With such close access to Arches and Canyonland National Parks, this RV resort is a nice place to set as a base camp during your travels or a permanent or semi-permanent residence, however if sites are not available during peak season, I recommend Riverside Oasis Campground.

It sounds like a very nice place, but the catering to the BIG RV's really turns Me off. Our rig is older than 10 years and is very nice. It doesn't seem Camper friendly too Me .

I Agree with Debra. I have a truck camper that has 3 slides, with all the bells and Whistles (AC SAT Hard sides. slide out awnings etc) and looks great. On top of a $60 K Truck the unit look as good and cost as much as lots of Motorhomes but in this resort I'm not allowed on one side.....no thanks they can keep it.
