Summit Lake North, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Mineral, California
Campground located at the western entrance, Summit Lake North is more central to the park. Although we enjoyed the lake views and hiking from this camp, we were disappointed with the lack of accessibility to other features of the park. Many of the park's features are only accessible via a 8+ mile hike (one way) and backcountry camping is prevalent here. We felt a little shortchanged by our stay, although the campground itself provided a primitive, scenic setting.
