St. Mary's Campground, Glacier National Park, Browning, Montana

This amazing National Park has several campgrounds,  all of which are beautiful, scenic, and central to the park. We chose to stay at St. Mary's as it is one of the few campgrounds that offer reservations, especially on the East Side of the park. Located just past the East entrance to the park, the campground has three loops. When we arrived, a late spring storm a month earlier had caused
the river adjacent to camp to overflow and washed out Loop A, and the loop was closed as a result. The three loops each have similar sites; gravel/dirt pads, no hookups, picnic tables, fire pits, and a small area to call home for a day. Most sites are pull through loops that can be tight for larger rigs with slides. Choose your site carefully and be sure to read site details before booking so you don't get into a pinch. However, the sites in Loop B and C offer better views than Loop A of the gorgeous mountains. Loop A sites are more private and wooded than those in the other loops. The primitive campground has showers and restrooms, but no laundry facilities. A short walk from camp takes you to the river, which dumps into St. Mary's lake just a short distance away. A Visitor's Center next to camp offers park information and exhibits. Additionally, park shuttles depart from the Visitor's Center which provide access to the East and West sides of the park. Less than a mile from camp is the town of St. Mary's which offers all amenities you may need. Sites here go quickly, so book a reservation early.
