Pismo State Beach has two campgrounds within it: North Beach and Oceano Dunes OHV area. North Beach is right along Highway 1 and offers easy access to the beautiful beach via a short walk over sand dunes. Next door to the South you will find a Monarch grove and to the North you will find Pismo Village RV Resort, a private RV park. The town of Pismo is a short bike ride or moderate walk to the North. You will find the pier, restaurants, bars and shops to peruse. The campground itself is
well maintained and nicely laid out with easy access to all sites. Interior roads and site pads are level and paved, offering lots of space to set up camp. We enjoyed the spaciousness of sites and privacy from neighbors along the perimeter sites. A few of these sites offer views of the dunes and even a peek-a-boo view of the ocean. Interior sites are still spacious, but lack privacy. We thought these sites would be great for families that want to camp together and offer a nice grassy area between sites for kids to play and friends to gather. Hiking and walking trails surround the campground, leading you to the beach, the Monarch grove and up to town. Restrooms with showers, an amphitheater and camp hosts are all available here. Weekends during the summer fill up quickly, so reservations are recommended.
