Red Trail Campground, Medora, North Dakota
turning around, as the road was graded down to a very rough gravel road, and we didn't want to rattle our rig to death. So, we opted to head back to Medora and stay at this little RV park we saw on our way into town. The park is older, but was fine for our two night stay. We enjoyed the convenience of the short walk into Medora (an adorable Old West town with lots of neat shops and history!) and the evening shuttle service to the Medora Musical. This older park has gravel sites situated underneath a grove of trees, providing lots of shade during the hot summer days. The staff was very pleasant and took time to find us a site that allowed us to use our satellite without the obstruction of trees. Sites are close together, but since we spent most of our day in Medora, proximity to neighbors was a non-issue. A small convenience store offers a few grocery items you may need. Evening music/entertainment is provided, which was interesting.... All in all, this was a great place for us to stay. With the exception of the trains which can be heard through the night, the campground suited our needs just fine. In hindsight, we would have rather spent just one night here instead of two, and spent two nights in the upper unit of the North Unit.
