Liberty Harbor RV Park, Jersey City, New Jersey
amazing and ferry access to the city was reliable and inexpensive. Once in the city, we relied on the subway and our own two feet to get us around, which was safe. Back at the RV park you will find sites that are situated in a asphalt/gravel lot. This area could use a repaving, but sites are level. Sites also are fairly close together, however not too close to cause issues in navigating larger rigs around. This place is definitely big rig friendly. In fact, we have stayed at California State Parks that have tighter sites than we found here. All sites are back in and have electric and water hookups. There are no fire rings, but a couple of sites had picnic tables. A small but somewhat charming tent area with a dozen sites is available as well, which has grassy sites that are almost surprising to find in such an urban area. There is a nicely appointed laundry facility with many washers and dryers to freshen up your linens. Upon check in, the front office will give you plenty of maps and information as to how to get to the city. Located within a short walk you will find a metro train and the ferry with direct access to the city. Ferries that go to the Statue of Liberty also depart from Liberty Harbor. On site you will also find extra parking for a tow vehicle and a beach sand restaurant. Our main concern coming into Liberty Harbor was safety. We were assured by the staff that the surrounding area is very safe. We found that to be absolutely true and never felt endangered, even when returning to camp after dark. About a mile away from camp the neighborhood is questionable and roads are rough for larger rigs. Reservations are recommended, especially during summer months.
