Kansas City West/ Lawrence KOA, Lawrence, Kansas

The morning of our arrival we called ahead to see if this KOA had a site available for us for the night. Luckily, they did. About an hour west of Kansas City, Missouri, this KOA has all of the usual amenities and layout of a typical KOA. Inside the office at check-in you will find a little store with souvenirs and camping supplies.  Additionally,
there is a small ice cream shop where you can choose from about a dozen flavors of hand-dipped ice cream. We enjoyed that perk as we were staying here during a summer heat wave with temps well over the century mark. We quickly parked in our gravel, shaded, endcap site and headed for the pool. The pool is small and simple, but was clean and kept us cool. Other activities we saw were the pillow jump, a small arcade, gold panning, and basketball hoop. Laundry facilities are available on site. The park filled up by day's end, and much of the park is filled with long term and permanent tenants. With the extreme heat we experienced some low voltage readings on our EMS system; we were glad to have that to protect our rig from potentially damaging power surges. We spoke to the park about our repeated shut downs because of power surges. They said it was beyond their control with the heat. I think a power wiring upgrade is needed. Regardless, our stay was quiet, restful,  and did the job. A variety of cabins are also available for those traveling without an RV.
