Kartchner Caverns State Park, Benson, Arizona

Camping at Arizona's most popular cave system is a must for travelers along the I-10. The campground is adjacent to the cave and the Discovery Center, gift shop, and Bat Cafe. Tucked away from the busy parking lot of the Discovery Center, this campground is peaceful, has views of the surrounding mountains, and offers
many private sites surrounded by low growing trees. The campground has free wi-fi, paved interior roads and pads, water and electric hookups at each site, firepits, tables, and mostly level pads. A couple of trails lead from camp to the Discovery Center and also a longer trail that leads to observation points. Of course, no visit here is complete without a cave tour. Several types of tours are available for a fee. Check the Arizona State Parks website for details about the variety of tours, restrictions, and to reserve a tour (highly recommended).  The tours are well led, interesting, and conveniently depart from the Discovery Center, which is just footsteps away from camp. Our winter stay here was lovely with warm (70's) daily high temperatures and cave temperature of 70 degrees. Several small cabins are also available for overnight stays. Camp hosts are extremely friendly and helpful, offering ideas of what to do in the neighboring area, as well as right here in this state park.
