Tenderfoot Creek, Anchorage, Alaska

Despite the name, this campground is set along a pretty lake adjacent to the Seward Highway. A couple of sites are near the creek around the back bend of the campground loop. A nice stopover south of Anchorage and north of Seward, this park is wooded and private. Sites all are along a gravel road and have level pads, fire pits, and picnic tables.
Many sites have lake access and views of the lake. There is a small boat launch and a book exchange. Near the campground entrance there is a lovely lodge with excellent ice cream, expresso, pizza, sandwiches and pies. This is a great place to grab a nice snack or treat. If you want a more traditional meal, a restaurant and bar is located next door. During our stay we enjoyed watchinga couple of floatplanes take off and land on this small lake. The only negative we found here was a bit of highway noise during the daytime. We had a reservation here, but they are not needed as usage is moderate and most users stay for just one night.
